Highlands Undergraduate Enrichment

HUE Virtual programming and mentoring during COVID-19

The Highlands Undergraduate Enrichment (HUE) will be offering mentoring and tutoring for the rest of the semester through Microsoft Teams. This service is an office 360 product and is available for all students at 澳门十大正规网投平台! It is a virtual space that will allow you to seamlessly continue receiving mentoring and tutoring as we wrap up the final six weeks of the semester.

Remember, we’ll be here to support you in any way that we can! For students who have peer mentors in your courses,  you have been added to a Microsoft Team that the Peer Mentor has created. If you do not see a team affiliated with the course that you are taking, please email the Interim Director of the HUE program, Leon Bustos, at leonbustos@istarcasting.com so we can ensure that you are registered in the team.

Here is a YouTube video that will show you the basics of accessing Microsoft Teams.

HUE will also continue with virtual programming and events from a distance!

Highlands Undergraduate Enrichment (HUE) is responsible for student success programming, such as the First-Year Experience and Second-Year Experience programs, which include embedded Peer Mentors who offer social and personal guidance and academic tutoring and support.

A culture of excellence and connection that boosts students into successful college careers.

To serve students by providing an exceptional experience focused on supporting student success through community building, experiential learning, and cross-disciplinary connections, as well as supporting personal and academic growth.

Student and faculty community, personal growth, and academic integration, with an emphasis on accessibility and excellence through support.

First-Year Experience Learning Communities and iSeminar: istarcasting.com/FYELC
In the FYE LC program, first-year students participate in integrated courses together that focus on a theme. The Integrative Seminar (iSeminar, UNST 101) course is focused on student success by promoting academic, personal, and social integration. Peer Mentors attend the iSeminar and other parts of the LC to support students. Outside of class, Peer Mentors are available for social and personal mentoring as well as tutoring and study support. Each LC is part of a larger social group called a Hacienda. Throughout the fall semester, students participate in Hacienda social events to build a larger social community. Students present their LC integrated projects at the annual Celebration of Learning: First-Year Symposium in November. In the Spring, Peer Mentors are embedded across the core curriculum to support students and continue providing tutoring and study support.

Second-Year Experience
Second-year students benefit from Peer Mentors who are embedded in select courses across the core and provide tutoring and study support in the HUE Study Lounge. Beginning Spring 2019, students in the core curriculum will be provided with a common experience focused on global learning.
